Make travelling Japan solo a little easier

MjourneyGo started as a YouTube channel walking Japan without editing out the reality, then grew into a set of trip-planning tools — because the question people ask most isn’t “where’s pretty” but “how much money do I need” and “when should I go”.

What we do

This site isn’t meant to be an encyclopedia of Japan. It’s meant to be tools you can actually decide with before and during a trip — so every page tries to answer one question completely, rather than give you a broad overview and leave you to search on.

How we handle data

What matters most to us is being clear about where each figure comes from so you can decide for yourself how much to trust it.

  • Live data — exchange rates, ticket prices, weather, hazard alerts and train status, pulled straight from APIs with the time of the last fetch shown.
  • Reference figures — hotel, food and entry prices and JR Pass fares each carry a source and a check date. Reviewed every 6 months.
  • Our own models — the sakura and autumn leaf forecasts, for example. We say plainly that these are calculated, not official, and explain the method.
  • What we can’t confirm — gets a note, rather than being dressed up as a figure that looks more solid than it is.
Spotted something wrong? Tell us. Prices and rules in Japan change often. If what you find on the ground doesn’t match what’s here, email us at the address below and we’ll fix it and date the update.

Frequently asked questions

How reliable are the prices and forecasts on this site?
Every figure is sourced and dated at the foot of the page. The sakura and autumn leaf forecasts are our own model, built from 10 years of temperature data plus the forward forecast — not an official announcement. Use them for rough planning and check the official notice again before you book.
How does this site make money?
From ads and affiliate links for hotel, flight and activity booking services. If you book through one of those links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — but our rankings and recommendations are not based on commission.
How do I suggest a city or topic?
Email us or comment under a video on YouTube. We read every message and pick the topics people ask about most.
