Frequently asked questions

What time should I leave my accommodation for a day trip?
Adhere to the principle of arriving at your destination before ten o'clock in the morning. Because famous tourist attractions start to get crowded from eleven to three in the afternoon. If the route takes more than an hour and a half to travel You should leave your accommodation no later than eight o'clock. And check the last return bus time when purchasing the ticket.
Should I buy a day pass or pay for a one-way ticket?
It's easy to think that if you take more than three trips that day or the route includes a mix of trains, cable cars, and boats, the charter pass will almost always be worth it. For example, Hakone and Nikko have to connect many legs. But there are only one train ride routes to Otaru or Nara. Paying a one-way ticket is cheaper.
Where can I leave my luggage if I've checked out but still want to continue traveling?
Coin lockers in major stations accept luggage, costing 700–1,000 yen per day for large luggage. But holiday mornings fill up very quickly. A more sure way is to leave it at the deposit counter in the station or use the luggage delivery service to the next hotel — Details are in our luggage drop off and drop off guide.
If you really only have one free day, which route should you choose?
Choose a route that lasts no more than an hour and doesn't require multiple transfers. There will be the most time left for actual traveling — From Tokyo is Kamakura. From Osaka is Nara or Kyoto. From Sapporo is Otaru. From Fukuoka is Dazaifu. And from Nagoya is Inuyama.
